Dr. Claudio Denoya, Senior Applications Scientist, Life Sciences Division, at Particle Measuring Systems, has been selected to present at INTERPHEX 2016. His paper, “Eliminating False Positives in Active Air Microbiological Environmental Monitoring: A Sterile Single-Use Impactor with an Integrated Agar Media Plate,” summarizes the validation and use of an innovative single-use impactor holding an integrated agar culture media plate.
The device (BioCapt® Single-Use Microbial Impactor) eliminates the separate use and assembly of a stainless steel impactor and a traditional agar plate, minimizing operator intervention and manipulations such as plate placement, removal, substitution, exposure of the open plate to the environment, and accidental touching of the agar surface. Validation performance data and the benefits of this single-use device upon implementation in clean rooms for aseptic manufacturing will be presented.
Dr. Denoya's current main focus is in improving aseptic processes in the pharmaceutical and related industries. He is a member of the Advisory Council, National Center for Therapeutics Manufacturing at Texas A&M University. He has recently been selected as an Expert Panel member in the Modern Microbiological Methods chapter of the U.S. Pharmacopoeia.
Previously, Dr. Denoya was a Senior Director of the BioPharm R&D Group at Pall Corporation (New York) working on the development of new technologies. He also spent more than 23 years at Pfizer Global R&D. Claudio has received numerous distinctions such as, six Pfizer Global R&D distinguished awards, the United States National Hispanic Corporate Organization award, and the University of Buenos Aires, Faculty of Biochemistry award. He has over 80 patents and publications and more than 250 presentations in the fields of Microbiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Genetics and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
