Question
Can I reduce the flow rate on my particle counter? The 1 CFM is too high and may damage my parts testing.
Answer

No, you cannot reduce the flow rate on your instrument. Particle counters are calibrated at specific flow rates and NIST-standard polystyrene latex spheres (PSLs), so if the flow rate changes, the particle sizing changes. Specifically, when the flow rate decreases, particles size larger; when the flow rate increases, particles size smaller.
