APSS 200 Parenteral Particle Counter
APSS 200 System
Question
When my APSS 200 System is not in operation, how should the input and drainage line should be maintained as both the end remains open and which class of laminar cabinet is required?
Answer

For short durations there is no need to do anything with the particle counter as turning it off will stop the pump and reduce the particles getting into the optical chamber.

If the particle counter is to be stopped for a few days or longer it is supplied with a small plastic cap for the inlet, remove the sample probe and install the plastic cap. There is no need to cap the exhaust as it is fitted with a 0.3 um filter, which will prevent any particles getting into the system in reverse.

On starting the counter after a period of down time it is advisable to run it with a zero count filter (supplied with each unit) to ensure it returns to a clean state and is then ready to run. This needs only take 5 minutes of sampling.
