Lasair II Particle Counter
Question
Which particles counters should I use for spot checking versus continuous monitoring?
Answer

Spot Checks

  • The Handilazseries or LASAIR II 310/510 instruments are best suited for spot checks. The HandiLaz is a small, handheld device with sensitivity at 0.3 µm and sampling rate of 0.1 CFM.
  • The Lasair-II 310/510 instruments are lightweight, portable devices with sensitivity at 0.3 and 0.5 µm (respectively) and sampling rate of 1.0 CFM. The Lasair-II 310/510 instruments provide six particle channels and more extensive data analysis features than the HandiLaz series.

Continuous Monitoring

  • The Airnet, Lasair-II, or IsoAir series instruments are ideal for continuous monitoring.
  • The Airnet instruments are small units, with 2 or 4 channels, and since they do not include a display, they must report data to a network facility monitoring system.
  • The Lasair-II instruments are lightweight, with 6 channels, and since they include a display, can be used in standalone mode and report data to a network facility monitoring system.
  • The IsoAir instruments are designed within a rugged, chemically-resistant stainless steel case for environments that may be more harsh than a typical cleanroom. They include 4 or 6 channels (depending upon model), and since they do not include a display, they must report data to a network facility monitoring system.
