Gas Particle Counter
Question
Can I sample pressurized gases?
Answer

Not unless you use a separate pressure diffuser, often called a High-Pressure Diffuser (HPD), and still, the gases should be inert and non-toxic. Aerosol instruments are calibrated at standard ambient pressures (≈ 14.7 psi), so sampling at pressures that differ from ambient will provide erroneous data.

Commonly, the HPD uses a series of critical orifices to reduce pressures from 40-100 psi to ambient. Then, the particle counter can sample the airborne particles with minimal data loss.
