It is important to monitor the DC light level as excess background scatter can lead to a number of issues. High DC light usually occurs when the capillary is contaminated. In most cases, a contaminated capillary can be cleaned with most glassware cleaners. Samples with very high particle counts, bubbles, or high molecular weight additives can also lead to high DC light.
