To measure Cl2 and HCl independantly in one single AirSentry-IMS unit, what technique is used to cater this? Which method is most suitable for ambient monitoring?
Respuesta

To monitor multiple chloride species in the same analyzer box, we currently use a dual cell AirSentry-IMS analyzer. The sample stream is split between both of the IMS cells, and so they each see the same sample. The first cell measures Total Chloride compounds. The second cell monitors Cl2, and HCl is dropped out through the use of a chiller in-between the sample that has been split off, and the second IMS cell. Removal efficiency is extremely high due to the water solubility properties of HCl gas. HCl is calculated through the subtraction of these two concentrations (Total Chlorides - Cl2 = HCl).
